Worker crushed under falling stone

JAKARTA: A construction worker died instantly on the scene on
the weekend after a piece of granite fell on him at a
construction project at the Gandhi Memorial School, Kemayoran,
Central Jakarta.

The victim, identified as Wahyudi, 21, a resident of Bojong
Terong, Pancoran Mas, Depok, was, with colleagues, unloading the
granite from a truck.

"All of sudden, one of the pieces fell on him. He died
instantly at the scene," said a witness, Wahyu Nur, 19.

Wahyudi was taken to the morgue at Cipto Mangunkusumo general
hospital.

"The body was then claimed by Wahyudi's family for burial in
Depok," said a staffer at the morgue on Sunday. -- JP
