Worker commits suicide at site

JAKARTA (JP): A 27-year-old man was found dead at a construction site of a shop-house project on Jl. Daan Mogot in West Jakarta over the weekend.

A can of insecticide was found near the man's body, identified as Mardani, indicating that he had ended his life by drinking the deadly fluid, fellow workers and police said.

Mardani's body was found on the second floor of the shop-house late Friday by his fellow construction workers, who reported the finding to the nearby Kalideres police subprecinct.

Second Sgt. B. Handoyo of the subprecinct said Mardani was a migrant worker from Madiun, East Java. His body was sent to the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital for a postmortem examination.

"He lived with his friends in Kalideres who said he was a very introverted person and rarely shared his problems with others," the officer said. (04)
