Wonosobo hotel agreement

JAKARTA (JP): PT Southern Pacific Indonesia, a subsidiary of Australia's Southern Pacific Hotel Corp., will run Centra Wonosobo, a star-rated hotel in the city of Wonosobo, which is on the Dieng plateau in Central Java.

Southern Pacific Indonesia announced over the weekend that a management agreement was signed here Friday between Southern Pacific Indonesia and PT Kresna Duta Wisata, a subsidiary of the Kresna Duta group, which owns the hotel previously known as Hotel Merdeka.

The hotel, originally built during the colonial era, is expected to open under the new management in October 1997.

Kresna's president, Bambang J. Soegama, said that the 115-room hotel will serve both domestic and overseas tourists looking for weekend recreation and business transactions.

Southern Pacific Indonesia's director of operations, Edwin Bucher, said that the hotel will also offer convention facilities.

Southern Pacific Indonesia, owned by the Jan Darmadi group and Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation of Australia, currently runs Ancol Travelodge hotel in Jakarta and Sanur Bali Travelodge hotel in Bali. The company will also manage other hotels located in Jakarta, and in Batu and Surabaya in East Java and Semarang in Central Java. (icn)
