Wonderland unfolds at Borobudur

In tune with the Christmas spirit, the Borobudur Hotel has created a miniature winter wonderland entirely out of gingerbread, through which runs a "polar express".

It took two artists, Bambang and Mamat, and two chefs, pastry chef Sheriff Mohideen and executive chef Eduard Betz, to conceptualize and assemble the display in the lobby.

Made of 70 grams of ginger powder, 20 kilograms of assorted cookies and 30 kilograms of icing sugar, it took 62 hours to make the gingerbread wonderland.

Gingerbread has been baked in Europe since the 11th century. In some places, it is a soft and delicately spiced cake while in others, it is a crisp and flat cookie.
