Women join intensive Ramadhan course

PEKANBARU, Riau: Some 1,000 women are participating in a
three-day course on Islam, held by Pekanbaru's Family Welfare
Movement, a government-sponsored movement.

The intensive course, held during the month of Ramadhan, was
opened on Wednesday by Pekanbaru Mayor Herman Abdullah. The
course is aimed at improving the women's knowledge on Islam,
according to Abdullah.

Their participation is important as they play a vital role in
the life of their families, Abdullah added. -- JP
