JAKARTA (JP): The police shot a woman after she snatched a
gold necklace from a passenger of a mikrolet public minivan at
the Senen bus terminal on Monday.

The woman, identified as 25-year-old Maurin Napitupulu, was
shot in her left hand and a bullet pierced her arm, according to
the Senen Police.

She was rushed to the police hospital in Kramat Jati, East
Jakarta, Second Lt. Yan Kris Allo said.

The police confiscated a gold necklace worth Rp 500,000
(US$60) as evidence.

"Maurin saw a passenger, 46-year-old Ong Renny, with the gold
necklace in the mikrolet bound for Kampung Melayu," Allo said.

Maurin snatched the necklace through the window but as she
fled the scene she was spotted by Sgt. Maj. Arjul Harahap, an on-
