Woman robbed on public bus

JAKARTA: Two men, one armed with a knife, robbed a woman on a public bus and escaped with the victim's gold necklace on Tuesday.

The robbers and the victim boarded the bus outside the Senen train station in Central Jakarta. Just after the bus, carrying about 15 passengers, departed for Cimone, Tangerang, the two men approached the woman near the back of the bus.

One of them suddenly pointed a knife at her, while the other snatched her necklace. The victim screamed, but no one helped. Instead, the driver stopped the bus while the two men escaped.

The driver said that he recognized the two men among those who often robbed bus passengers. He said he was too afraid to stop them.--JP
