Woman robbed in Blue Bird taxi

JAKARTA: An employee of Metro TV private television station, Yulianti, was robbed in a Blue Bird taxi heading to her House on Jl. Casablanca, South Jakarta.

Qoiry Ahmadi, an editor of law and criminal news at the television station, said that the incident happened on Friday night after she finished shopping at a supermarket on Jl. Barito, South Jakarta and hailed a Blue Bird taxi.

It is the second recent robbery of Blue Bird customers. About two weeks ago another woman was kidnapped and robbed. Blue Bird has denied that the robbery was conducted by any of its drivers.

Yulianti, an employee at the human resources development section, was dumped near a rice field in Cipondoh subdistrict, Tangerang, Banten province, or some 30 kilometer from the super market she was abducted from. She was helped by locals.

The victim said she knew she would be robbed after two men suddenly appeared in the back seat of the taxi.

The goods and money taken by the robber was worth Rp 15 million, which included Rp 2 million cash, jewelry, a cellular phone, a bag and her shoes.--JP
