Woman raped and killed

JAKARTA (JP): The corpse of an unidentified woman covered with
a bedsheet was found by Curug villagers in Legok, Tangerang, on
Sunday morning.

Tangerang Police detectives chief Capt. Krisnandi said on
Monday the woman, in her 20s, was spotted by a passerby dumped in
the underbrush at Gading Serpong housing complex.

Based on evidence found at the scene, police believe the woman
was raped before being killed, Krisnandi said, adding that
officers think the rape occurred a few minutes before her body
was found.

"She was probably raped in a nearby house or hotel and hastily
dumped by the suspects."

Besides confiscating the pink bedsheet as evidence, police
also found a pillow and rug near the woman's body.

Krisnandi said his men were in the dark about how to begin
their investigation into the case.

"The victim has no identity at all," he said.

The woman is 158 centimeters tall and light-skinned. Her body
was taken to the morgue at Tangerang General Hospital.(41/asa)
