Woman meets former robber

TANGERANG (JP): A woman who met a former mugger of hers at a bank here on Monday promptly reported him to the police who arrested him.

Rini had bumped into two men at a junction along Jalan Raya Mauk in Jatiuwung on Aug. 24, a policeman said. They had asked her to show an address while handing over a small packet bearing Arabic words.

"But as soon as the victim accepted the packet, she lost her awareness and handed over her Lippo bank book and bank BNI ATM cards along with her PIN numbers to the suspects," police detective Chief Insp. Chandra Sukma Kumara told reporters.

As if she was hypnotized, Rini also surrendered her two gold rings, a Timex wrist watch and a cellular phone along with its card worth Rp 11 million.

The police identified the suspects as Antoni, alias Anton, 32, a resident of the village of Gombong, Lemah Abang, Bekasi and his accomplish as Ely, 34, a resident of Jl. Surbaya, Binong Permai, Tangerang.

The police confiscated Rp 3,850,000 and a small packet bearing Arabic words from Anton.

The police are tracking down the other suspect. (41)
