Woman killed in hit and run
JAKARTA (JP): A blonde woman in her twenties was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Jl. Dharmawangsa in South Jakarta in the early hours of Friday night.
The 170-centimeter-tall woman, whose identity is still unknown, was pronounced dead at Fatmawati Hospital.
Her body was later sent to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in Central Jakarta.
From the body, police collected a black gown, a necklace and red underwear.
The police report said that Ade, a resident of Jl. Anggur, Cipete, South Jakarta, spotted the foreigner, clad in a long black dress, lying in the middle of the quiet street at about 1 a.m.
Ade then stopped his car near a cigarette stall some 20 meters from the woman, and asked nearby residents, Billy and Dede Soebandi, to accompany him to check the woman.
While they were walking toward the woman, a motorcycle passed by at high speed and ran over her.
"When the driver ran over the woman's body, the motorcycle wavered a bit, but did not fall over. The motorcyclist then sped up and left the area after he realized he ran over someone," the witness said.(emf)
