Woman held for deception

CIREBON, West Java: Police arrested on Thursday Priscilla
Syailendra, 36, for deceiving dozens of women seeking work
overseas.

The would-be migrant workers had been promised jobs in
neighboring countries Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam,
but were instead sold as prostitutes in Batam, the gateway to
those countries.

The suspect was arrested after trying to recruit Maesaroh, 18,
a resident in Pegagan subdistrict, Palimanan district, Cirebon
regency, according to Adj. Comr. Nanang, the chief of Palimanan
Police subprecinct. -- JP
