Woman gets 20 years for murder

BOGOR: The Cibinong Court sentenced a woman to 20 years in jail on Wednesday for masterminding the murder of her Malaysian husband.

Her two accomplices, Ida Bagus Bima Purwoko alias Agus and Sudarto, who were both members of the Army special force (Kopassus), received 18 and 19-year terms respectively.

Presiding judge Rocky Panjaitan said Sri Sutarti, 47, asked eight people, including two other defendants, to kill Bo Nga Sing, 50, on Dec. 3, 2001.

Three people who were involved in the murder are still at large.

The judge said that Sri told the people to kill her husband because the victim treated her like a housemaid and forbade her to enter his bedroom.

Bo Nga Sing was found dead in Tunggilis lake in Cileungsi, Bogor regency, strangled with a piece of plastic rope.

The case also implicated Amir Mahmud, a Kopassus member, who is now serving two and a half years in the military prison in Bandung, and Didi Widyatmaja, a police officer who is now on trial. --JP
