Woman found dead outside home

JAKARTA (JP): Neighbors found a housewife dead in front of her home early on Wednesday morning in a red-light district in East Jakarta.

Karniti, 35, is believed to have died from a single stab wound to her heart.

Her body was sent for autopsy to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in Central Jakarta.

Her husband, Sasmita, 40, said at the hospital's morgue he did not know the circumstances of her death in Prumpung, Rawa Bunga, because he was not at home.

"I was guarding one of our food stalls on Jl. Otista."

He said Udin, one of his neighbors, told him Karniti was found lying as though she had fainted.

"I went out of the house at 1:30 a.m. and left her alone because she said she wanted to sleep," Sasmita said.

He said he did not know if the house had been robbed because he had yet to return to home. (emf)
