Woman found dead in a gutter

BOGOR (JP): A 35-year-old Sukasirna villager, named Lilis, was found dead in a gutter near her house in Leuwiliang subdistrict, Bogor. The police stated that she was found by her nephew on Saturday morning.

Lilis had suffered severe head injuries. Her body was taken to PMI Hospital in Bogor for a postmortem examination.

"My seven-year-old son, Eli, found her body when he was on his way to the public toilets at about 6:30 a.m.," Lilis' brother Endih said to reporters at the hospital.

Endih said he had no idea about the identity of the killer, but he did say that Lilis and her husband Agus had often quarreled in the last two weeks.

"Lilis is Agus' second wife. They were married about one and a half years after Agus' first wife Ijah left for Saudi Arabia to work," Endih said.

Two weeks ago Ijah reportedly come back from Saudi Arabia. Endih said, "She was upset to find out that Agus had already married another woman. According to rumors, Ijah had asked Agus to divorce Lilis."

Endih, who lived next door to the victim, said that Lilis refused to divorce Agus and the couple were constantly fighting.

Lilis was last spotted on Friday night, while according to Endih, "Agus said he was staying at his motorbike workshop over the road from the house." However, another eyewitness, Endih's child Cicih, said that she had seen Agus in the house with Lilis and their seven-year-old son Ruslan.

The case is being handled by Leuwiliang Police, pending further investigation. (24/edt)
