Woman commits suicide in Tangerang

A 17-year-old woman who was taking a course at the Granita Foundation, a baby sitter supplier in Cipondoh district, Tangerang municipality, committed suicide on Tuesday morning.

The victim, Rojana, an elementary school graduate from Lampung, had just returned to her boardinghouse near the foundation on Tuesday morning after spending the night at her uncle's house with a colleague named Esty.

She was found dead in her boardinghouse at about 7 a.m. hanging from a piece of black plastic rope. The suicide was reported to the Cipondoh Police at about 8 a.m.

Tangerang Police deputy chief Comr. IGD Sugianyar said the victim was upset because Esty had told her that her uncle had sexually assaulted her the night before.

Rojana's body was taken to the Tangerang General Hospital morgue.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the police were still trying to locate the victim's uncle. --JP
