Winds damage houses in Batam

BATAM, Riau: Strong winds damaged 200 houses in the coastal area of Batu Merah on Batam Island Thursday.

However there was no report of casualties.

The local office of the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said they had recorded strong winds blowing at some 10 knots in the area.

Antara reported that many of the houses were constructed of wood and had little chance in facing the strong winds. (04)
