Wild elephants kill two

BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: A herd of wild elephants strayed out of a reserve park here and went on the rampage in a nearby settlement, killing two people, Antara reported yesterday.

At least seven elephants from the Way Kambas National Park attacked the nearby Brajayekti village Wednesday, destroying houses and crops and trampling two villagers to death.

Eight to 12 people were killed by elephants in southern Sumatra each year, the agency said. (swe)
