Wild bear mauls villager

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Abudarin, 18, received hospital treatment for serious injuries he sustained after a bear attacked him in a forest near his village on Wednesday.

The resident of Karang Bintang village in Kotabaru regency was tending his buffaloes when the bear pounced on him. Antara reported that Abudarin had facial, hand and chest wounds.

The bear ran away after Abudarin screamed for help and villagers rushed to the scene. (rms)
