Wife faces trial on drug charge
JAKARTA: The North Jakarta District Court opened on Tuesday the trial of a housewife who allegedly assisted her husband in drug trafficking.
Prosecutor Triningsih told the court that Sni, 36, was arrested in the ladies' room of Barong discotheque in Pluit in July. The police found three-and-a-half ecstasy pills on her.
Sni told investigators that she had already consumed half a pill and flushed 36 other pills a few minutes before the arrest.
Her husband, Is, was arrested earlier while trying to sell 100 ecstasy pills, and later told the police of Sni's whereabouts and that she had 40 ecstasy pills in her possession.
Presiding judge Karel Tuppu adjourned the trial until Nov. 9 to hear witnesses. -- JP
