Why this discrimination?

I have been an ardent member of the Rancamaya Golf Club at Bogor for several years and have enjoyed not only the club's facilities but the majestic panorama as well.

As of late, and due to certain personal circumstances, I was no longer able to play golf at the club and decided to delegate my membership to an Indonesian friend, who is willing to accept the status of delegate-member for a given period, a temporary transfer which is allowed in conformity with the club's rules.

Having made a temporary deal with my friend. I reported the would-be transition to the club's management and was shocked by their response. I could hardly believe their attitude when they replied and elaborated the conditions of such a transition which explicitly prohibit the transfer of delegate-membership toward Indonesians.

One of the rulings stated that a delegation of membership may only be granted to foreigners who are domiciled in Indonesia under a work-contract and under the responsibility of the company for which they are working.

I am disgusted, upset and thoroughly disappointed that such discriminatory rules still exist in this liberal society we live in, and wonder why the management of the Rancamaya Golf Club, comprising distinguished members of the Indonesian society, still indulges in such practices.
