Why? No joke!

I am just commenting on Mr. Farid Baskoro's criticism over two recent The Jakarta Post's front pages following Black Friday.

While it is absolutely Mr. Baskoro's right, as a reader of the Post, to feel disturbed by the appearance of the Saturday and Sunday editions of the Post last week, I certainly can understand and very much share the same sentiments as the Post. It perfectly reflected the very grievous moment -- again and again -- on Indonesia's recent tragedies.

I believe it does not necessarily mean the Post is trying to turn into a tabloid with its eye-catching front page appearance. I think the Post is only expressing its editors' feelings -- and I am sure that of many readers too -- about the tragedy, which was far beyond rationale, SHOCK, ANGER, DEEP GRIEF. No joke about that.

Well, again it is up to Mr. Baskoro rather to feel shocked, grieved and angered only by the Post's appearance; for me the Post, once again, showed a creative, hearty and emphatic expression and sympathy for the victims.
