Wholesale market for fruits

BOGOR (JP): Private developer PT Mayo Waya in cooperation with
the Bogor mayoralty is building a fruit, vegetable and other
agricultural produce wholesale market at Cibadak, Tanah Sereal.

Mayo Waya director R. Sutadi Rusli said the Rp 34 billion
(US$12.83 million) project was being built on a 2.5-hectare plot
and would have 11,300 kiosks.

The ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the
project was held Monday. "The project is expected to be completed
in six to eight months," he said.

Sutadi said that the market was designed to cater to customers
from both Bogor, Jakarta and other big cities.

He explained that 70 percent of the market space would be
allocated to wholesalers and the remaining 30 percent to
retailers.

Under an agreement with the Bogor mayoralty, Mayo Waya is
entitled to manage the market for six years. It will then be
obliged to return the property to the mayoralty. (04/24)
