BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: Prison officials are trying to determine who slept with a widow serving a sentence for motorcycle theft and kidnapping.

Deputy chief of North Lampung's Menggala prison warden Sobiran said yesterday that the provincial justice office was just made aware of the pregnant inmate.

Antara said yesterday that prison doctors found Dar, who has been in prison since May 30, two-months pregnant. The news agency did not give details of her sentence, saying only that she had been convicted of stealing her employer's motorcycle worth Rp 400,000 (US$193) and kidnaping his child while working as a domestic helper.

"Prison officials and doctors are sure that the convict got knocked up in prison and they are trying to find out who did it," Antara said. (pan)
