When stressed dad rocks cradle

TANGERANG (JP): The 30-year-old father detained since Saturday on charges of killing his own baby son had been suffering stress since he was fired from his work, a relative said yesterday.

Dulgani appeared moody and often mistreated his five-month-old baby, Adam, after he was fired from shoe factory PT Pratama Abadi three months ago, his sister-in-law Yuli said.

The initial report from doctors performing the postmortem said Adam sustained severe head injuries resulting from a hard blow.

Yuli said she had often seen Dulgani beating Adam or plugging his mouth with cloth whenever he cried.

"He would get angry with me every time I advised him to stop mistreating the baby," she said.

Dulgani has denied killing the baby. He said Adam fell from a cradle he was rocking while his wife was working at the same factory he used to work at.

Police said there were no eyewitnesses to the incident. (41/pan)
