What is your personal fashion style?
Clothes make the man, and the woman, and we often start to make our own choices about what we want to wear when we reach our teens. A group of Jakarta mall-goers told us about what they like to pull out of the closet in the morning.
Anisa, 17, North Jakarta: I'm more into feminine style. I like wearing casual and sporty clothes, too, but it still has to have a feminine touch.
As with trends, well, it depends on the style. If it suits me, then I go with it. I'll also follow the trend if many people are into it. I'm just not confident if only a few people go with the trend. I have to check first at the mall. If there are people who wear it, I'll wear it too.
Sexy clothes? Nah ... I'm too skinny. If I wear sexy or too tight tops, I cover them with a jacket.
Susanto, 18, West Jakarta: I like to wear something tight. Like what I'm wearing now -- tight pants, tight shirt, tight sweater. You know, junkie style. I just find it cool and comfortable. For shoes, definitely sneakers.
Frankly, I just follow my friends' style. I don't really read magazines to find out the latest trends or watch TV. I just discuss it with my friends.
I regularly shop for clothes in the Blok M area (South Jakarta). The prices are relatively cheap and there is a wide variety of styles. If there's something cool, I buy it.
Irma, 16, South Jakarta: I don't really pay attention to fashion. My daily attire beside the school uniform is just jeans, T-shirt and sneakers. But that doesn't mean I'm old-fashioned. I keep up with the latest trends from magazines and also TV, just to know that, "Oh, so this is what the latest trend is" ...
Indra, 21, South Jakarta: I'm pretty trendy when it comes to fashion. Right now, I go with the Japanese street style. It's great. It's cool and funky. I regularly buy Japanese fashion magazines like Nonno, and then I copy the style.
There's this shop in Blok M area which provides this Japanese style. Other than that, I shop at the mall, small shops in Bandung or ask my relatives to buy it when they go abroad.
Dalia, 15, a student at Australian International School, Jakarta: I'd say that my style is casual. Normally I'd wear bell- bottom jeans with a tank top, today I have to take a picture for my school, that's why I'm wearing a buttoned shirt. I also always wear Adidas shoes. I love Adidas shoes! I would never wear high heels or those girly sandals -- the closest thing to sandals that I'd wear are hotel slippers!
For accessories, aside from the multiple earrings I wear on my left ear, I also like lots of bracelets and I love bright-colored watches, like Swatch. I also have a tongue and belly-button piercing.
When I go out at night I usually like to wear similar things, but maybe more revealing. I really like midriff-baring tank tops and also glow in the dark stuff. I'm into the whole rainbow raver look. I love color. My favorite colors are red, orange, blue and yellow.
I like to shop at surf shops, like for this bag that I'm using. I got it at a surf shop for girls called Surfer Girl.
