West Sumatra exports vegetables, fruit

PADANG, West Sumatra: Since May of this year, West Sumatra province has exported 13.45 tons of vegetables and fruit to Singapore as part of an agreement between the West Sumatra provincial administration and Singapore importer Foodbex.

Five shipments have been sent to date, with the first being sent on May 3, said Yulmar Jastra, the deputy director of the West Sumatra Agricultural Office.

Among the fruits and vegetables shipped to Singapore were cabbages and tomatoes.

The provincial government has exported a total of 46.65 tons of fruit and vegetables to the prosperous city state since November of last year, said Yulmar. -- Antara
