West Java to have int'l airport

BANDUNG: The central government will extend the runway of Bandung's Husein Sastranegra Airport by up to 125 meters in a move to make it the only international airport in West Java, an official said on Monday.

Air transportation director general at the communications and telecommunication ministry Cucuk Suryo Suprojo said around Rp 15 billion (1.6 million) would be spent on the development project, while the provincial administration was responsible for the acquisition of land for it.

"The project will start this year and is scheduled for completion in 2005," he added. --JP
