Welcome with open arms

VANCOUVER, Canada (JP): As leaders began arriving for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, activists have promised to hold several protest demonstrations.

But one corner of Vancouver will be welcoming United States President Bill Clinton with "open" arms and the promise of full discretion.

The Penthouse strip club on Seymour Street has put up a blazing three-sided sign in front of the club: Welcome Prez Clinton. Our lips are sealed.

The club's owner, Daniel Filippouse, has even reserved a front-row table should the American president decide to drop by.

But he admits that, so far, no advance team from the president's security entourage has come to screen his establish.

Filippouse adds that he has rejected a local police order to take the sign down. (mds)
