Wedding plans go up in smoke

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: A fire which razed tens of
houses on Jl. Piere Tendean in Sungai Baru subdistrict late
Saturday night, also destroyed a young couple's wedding plans.

The wedding of Kinah, 20, which was planned for Sunday has now
been put on hold after her house, the venue of the wedding, was
razed by fire.

"It's not only the house, but all the preparations and various
provisions that were prepared were destroyed," Kinah's mother,
Sarah, was quoted by Antara as saying after the fire which
destroyed the houses along Martapura riverbank, was extinguished.

The fire occurred at about 9 p.m. and quickly spread to other
houses which were mostly made from wooden materials. The cause of
the fire remains unclear. (jun)
