We are not amused

I must say, I fail to see The Jakarta Post's purpose in
printing the article titled Sumatra cow almost jumps over the
moon on Feb. 3, 2004

Not exactly news, nor was it amusing. If it was to show
concern for animals, it hardly does that. Though it did point out
how animals seem to certainly have the same horror of death as
humans (which of course then makes it logical that most of their
other emotions would be much the same).

So, had the story told how the cow and buffalo succeeded in
getting away, or for that matter were spared (for their efforts),
maybe then it would have been newsworthy, otherwise it was all
rather sad and unnecessary. Instead, we should turn to page 18 of
the same edition, the Environment page, for better reading.
