WB helps people with HIV/AIDS

BEKASI: Head of the Bekasi Health Agency Bambang Djati Kusumo said on Wednesday the World Bank would provide a grant to help people with HIV/AIDS in the regency.

He said that four cities would receive a similar grant from the World Bank. He did not mention the size of the grant.

Bekasi regency currently has 32 people living with HIV/AIDS.

Bambang said once the regency administration received the fund, it would invite non-governmental organizations and community leaders to help the 32 people.

A survey by the West Java department of health in 2004 found that 32 people in Bekasi were HIV positive, 29 of whom live in penitentiaries. -- Antara
