As press officer of the World Bank, Jakarta, I am writing to
respectfully correct your article published on Sunday, Jan. 17,
1999, in which you state that Dennis de Tray will leave this
month as country director for Indonesia, and that Mark Baird will
take office in April.

I realize that you picked this story up from Dow Jones, and
they were incorrect in their facts. Mr. Baird will indeed become
country director for Indonesia in April 1999, however, Dennis de
Tray will remain country director until Mark assumes office on
March 31. He will not be leaving this month. Thank you for your
attention to this matter.
