Water crisis hurts C. Java

SEMARANG, Central Java: Water shortages have begun to effect several regencies in the province, notably Grobogan and Boyolali, where wells are drying up.

In Grobogan, the water shortage is the most obvious with trucks delivering clean water from the local government.

Chief of the Grobogan social service office Sugiono told Antara that 43 villages across the regency need water from the local government because their water source has disappeared.

He said every dry season the villages lack water. He added that the problem will be overcome as long as the giant reservoir at Kedungombo doesn't vanish. (pan)
