Watchdog releases crooked teachers list
Failing to announce the list of names of crooked politicians
before March 11, the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) instead
came up with corruption cases in elementary schools in Jakarta.
Asked by The Jakarta Post about its reason for not announcing
the names, Teten Masduki of ICW said on Wednesday that he had
handed all the paperwork on the list to the Center for Electoral
Reform (CETRO), a non-governmental organization.
ICW's plan to announce and publish the list before the
legislative election campaign period started on Thursday has won
wide public support. Concern about possible libel cases as the
result of the publication had earlier shrouded the plan.
An official from (CETRO) said that the publication of the list
would be delayed as many names were submitted at the last minute.
She added that the list would be published this week at the
latest.

result of a six-month study among parents and teachers in 50
schools. -- JP
