Warner Bros. enters Jakarta

JAKARTA (JP): Time Warner Entertainment Co. (Warner Bros), a film, cartoon and television producer of the United States, will expand its retail business in the city through its authorized Indonesian distributor.

The local private firm, PT Putra Sinar Primer, a subsidiary of the PSP group, will sign a franchise agreement with Warner Bros. today.

An initial store in Jakarta is schedule to open early next year. In addition to a planned store in the city, Putra Sinar Primer plans to open up to seven Warner Bros. Studio Stores in the country within the next five years with an investment of US$40 million.

Warner Bros. currently opens more than 127 stores throughout the U.S., 11 in Europe, seven in Asia and one in Australia. A total of 25 stores are to be open later this year in the U.S., Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. (icn)
