Wardiman opens science week
SEMARANG: This year's National Science Week, hosted by Diponegoro University, is suffering the effects of the worsening economic crisis.
Only 36 of the 1,400 colleges across the country are taking part in the festival at Diponegoro University that features exhibitions, seminars and cultural shows.
Minister of Education and Culture Wardiman Djojonegoro said when opening the week that he was aware the economic crisis was preventing many colleges from taking part in this year's event.
"They have decided not to take part in this event for efficiency reasons," he said. (har)
