Walkathon funds for children

JAKARTA (JP): The Kesejahteraan Anak Indonesia Foundation donated to 70 poor children savings accounts totaling Rp 11.8 million (US$1,200) which it raised through a charity walk.

Savings accounts with balances of between Rp 150,000 and Rp 200,000 were presented to the children at a ceremony at the office of the State Ministry of the Empowerment of Women, which supported the program.

The money was raised at an event called A Walk For Care held at the National Monument (Monas) square on July 29. At least 1,800 people, including students, government officials and celebrities took part in the event, held in commemoration of the National Children Day which fell on 23 July. (07)
