W. Java reports narcotics arrests
BANDUNG, West Java: West Java police arrested 93 people suspected of being involved in narcotic and psychotropic drugs in 1996.
West Java police spokesman Let. Col. Istanto J. told Antara Wednesday 35 of the suspects were Ecstasy dealers. Police confiscated 1,960 pills in the arrests.
In addition to the pills, the area's police impounded 44 marijuana plants, 5.61 kilograms of dried marijuana and 49,434 pills comprising Nipam, Mogadon, Bk, and Rhohipnol, Istanto said.
He also reported police confiscated 158,386 bottles of alcohol from unlicensed shops.
Istanto said his office would continue surveillance of places which still distributed alcohol and narcotics, such as in discos and other nightlife spots. (01)
