VW rally congests Bandung streets

BANDUNG: A procession of a 860 German-made Volkswagen (VW) cars of all types congested the streets of west and north Bandung on Sunday.

The vehicles, which made a 10-kilometer trip along the city's streets, belonged to members of the Bandung VW Club.

Muhammad Arfan, a member of the organizing committee, said that VW lovers from the nearby towns of Sumedang and Garut had also participated in the event.

Arfan claimed it was the longest VW convoy ever in Asia.

"We opened registration for 500 cars. We never expected that as many as 860 cars would take part in the procession," he said. (25/sur)
