Voter cards have foul language

fBANDUNG: Poll committee members at Lebak Gede subdistrict here discovered on Thursday that snafus on the voter cards from the General Election Commission (KPU) included several dirty words.

Ade M, a poll committee member also showed reporters 226 voter cards that had the same address, although the house at that address was only inhabited by seven people from one family.

An eligible voter named Wati was similarly bewildered, after she found her name changed to Mati (dead) on the voter card.

The poll committee members also discovered that names printed on the voter cards were dirty names, namely Tai (excrement) or one poor soul who had his named changed to Tai Anjing Firmansyah (or Firmansyah dog excrement).

"It is not efficient and wastes state money, and this is just one subdistrict, so I am sure there are many cases across the country," said Ade.

Chairman of West Java KPUD Setia Permana said that the print mistakes happened in almost all areas of the province, which has a total of 24.5 million eligible voters.

He urged the poll committee members to give people corrected voter cards as soon as possible. -- JP
