Volvo keeps quiet on NCAP results

TROLLHATTAN: Volvo is usually quite happy to trumpet crash test findings that show its cars to be among the safest vehicles on the roads.

But it has decided not to publicize its top score for safety in the European NCAP crash tests, according to Automotive News Europe.

Although the Volvo S40 was the safest car tested, Volvo told its European distributors not to use the results in advertising. Volvo believes the results represent less than 5 percent of real- life accidents.

The European NCAP crash tests have come in for a lot of criticism from carmakers. They claim the tests are too fast and irrelevant to real-life situations.
