Volleyball to be staged outdoors

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Volleyball Federation (PBVSI) will kick off a talent scouting project aimed at popularizing volleyball among the general public, newly installed PBVSI chairwoman Rita Subowo said on Monday.

"Many people want to play volleyball but they have difficulties finding an indoor court. With this project, we will encourage people to play outdoor volleyball. Hopefully, a good volleyball athlete will emerge," she said.

Rita said Gen. Pamoedji would take command of the project which would be launched here. She, however, failed to date the launch.

Chairman of the National Sports Council Wismoyo Arismunandar installed the new PBVSI officials here on Monday. Besides Rita, the new officials include secretary-general Sutardiono, his deputy Kamli Rukmana and treasurer Arini Sukarto. National Police chief Lt. Gen.
