`Vokal' editors speak out
SEMARANG: Dozens of students of the IKIP PGRI teachers training institute held a protest on their campus yesterday, denouncing the local military leaders for suggesting that their school magazine, Vokal, was spreading communism.
"I reject the accusation," said Nurul, who is the editor of the school's inhouse magazine.
The magazine earned the wrath of Maj. Gen. Soeyono last month for publishing a biography of Pramudya Ananta Toer, an author branded by the government as a communist.
Nurul said other publications have run the biography of Pramudya at greater length and were not accused. (har/emb)
