Vocalist's ex-wife arrested for drugs

BOGOR: Irni Arnita, the 25-year-old ex-wife of noted Slank rock group vocalist Kaka, was arrested with four friends by Bogor Police at 11.45 a.m. on Monday in West Bogor.

They -- Irni, Elicia Dwiyanti, 25, Adia Andar Rohesti, 26, and Doni Dwi Indradi, 23 -- were reportedly using low-grade heroin in drug dealer Andri Suardi's house when the police raided the house.

Bogor Police chief Sr. Comr. Nanan Soekarna said on Thursday that the police seized 96 packs of low-grade heroine, a roll of aluminum foil and Rp 250,000 (US$24.50).

"The suspects initially denied that they were high on heroin, but confessed after we did urine tests. We have had our eye on for two months," he said.

Andri said he could make Rp 2 million in profit per month from selling low-grade heroin, which he started to sell last year.

"I got the stuff from Limbong, who lives in South Jakarta," he said without elaborating.

Irni's father, Ridwan Nasution, was shocked by his daughter's arrest.

"I am shocked but have to accept it. Irni has been using drugs since marrying (Kaka)."

Members of Slank, who have admitted to taking drugs for years, declared last year that they were drug-free after expensive and intensive treatment and now encourage fans to shun drugs. -- JP
