Visitors flock to Botanical Garden

JAKARTA: The Bogor Botanical Garden attracted most of the visitors in Bogor and its surrounding area on Sunday, due in large part to the good weather.

It was estimated that between 35,000 and 40,000 people visited the botanical garden on Sunday. Although Sunday's total was about the same as last year's during the Idul Fitri holiday, the park drew far fewer visitors on Friday and Saturday when it was raining, or just about 15,000 each day, Antara reported.

Even though the park management did not put on any special events for the holiday, visitors were content to view the various foliage in its natural setting. Many visitors took in the orchid glass house and watched hundreds of deer roam the gardens of the presidential palace, which is located just next door to the botanical garden. Many threw peanuts and other food items to the deer, despite a sign asking people to refrain from feeding the animals. --JP
