Visa outrage

On my way to the United States to visit my grandchildren, I wanted to stop in London for three days to visit two of my former students who are pursuing higher studies in that city.

I was outraged by the visa requirements set by the British embassy. Although I had a letter from my company stating that I am the commissioner of that company, I needed a letter from the director stating the salary I earned each month. I also had to produce monthly statements of my bank account for the last three months.

This information is confidential. Does an embassy have the right to know all this?

I would cancel my trip to the unfriendly country, especially since I am from a country that welcomes tourists from all walks of life. However, I have told my friends that I am coming and I do not want to disappoint them.
