VIPs join golf tournament at Palm Hill
JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Alatas and his counterpart from the Philippines Domingo Siazon, were among the VIP golfers taking part in the Second Environment Health & Safety Golf Cup tournament held recently at the Palm Hill Country Club near Bogor.
The annual event to commemorate World Environment Day, June 5, was held by the state-owned oil company Pertamina. The tournament was inaugurated last year, officials from Pertamina, the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Mines and Energy and the Environmental Impact Management Board taking part.
Prominent figures in the fray for the one-day event this year included senior diplomat Nana Sutresna, the Philippines' Ambassador to Indonesia, Abaquin Eusibio and ASEAN Secretary- General Dato Ajit Singh.
"The tournament was held as part of our efforts to conserve the environment and to see that the national safety and health campaign, particularly at Pertamina, is better implemented through greater awareness," a tournament committee official said on Saturday. The campaign was launched in 1992 by F. Abda'oe, the president of Pertamina.
As expected, two Pertamina officials, Harianto and Samto Utomo, came out the top winners in the tournament. Harianto won the best net title to take the EHS Cup, while Samto won the second best net overall title in the competition held on Monday, June 5.
Third best net title went to Leonard Tobing. Hasjim Djalal from the foreign ministry won the fourth best net title. (rsl)
