Vintage cars start Borneo tour
JAKARTA (JP): Thirty nine vintage cars are currently on a Bornean tour. It started yesterday and will end on July 3.
The journey, called "a tour across the nations of the Malayan ethnic group" by the organizer, the Indonesian Vintage Car Association, starts from Pontianak, the capital city of West Kalimantan. It runs across Malaysia's Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam before returning to Pontianak.
During the tour, the club's team of mechanics and support vehicles will stand by to combat any gerontic symptoms shown by the eldery four-wheelers.
There are 129 drivers and co-drivers participating in the tour. They come from West Java, East Java, Bali, Lampung, Medan, Jakarta and Central Java.
Imam Effendy, the tour coordinator, said that the event is intended to help the participants learn more about the regions they are crossing and the life of the communities living there. The participants are also expected to learn and obey the traffic regulations of the neighboring countries. (arf)
