Villagers think weed is weed
YOGYAKARTA: Police here are looking into a report by Dlingo villagers that a weed known as orok-orok is in fact a type of marijuana.
Bantul Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. L. Manihuruk said his detectives had taken samples of the weed from the forest near Dlingo village for examination. He said police were responding to reports from villagers that a youth became intoxicated after smoking some orok-orok.
"Late on Tuesday we received a tip from Dlingo residents that there were hundreds of marijuana plants in the nearby forest," he said.
A team of police detectives were dispatched to check on the report and take samples.
"However, after a thorough check we concluded the plants were definitely not marijuana," Manihuruk said.
"Even if the plants are not marijuana, we still need to investigate further," Manihuruk said as quoted by Antara.
